This Arthur D. Little study deals especially with the future use of power electronics in the automotive technology. Beginning with an overview of the power electronics market and then developing the five mega-trends in the automobile electronics which will drastically influence the motor industry, we have detailed the role of power electronics in the automotive components: engine and auxiliary units, alternative propulsion systems (hybrids, fuel cell), transmission systems, driving dynamics, power management, comfort systems and the electronic architecture in general.
